TRENTON — With spring planting underway, BMP Logic provides growers with soil probes that are heavily discounted in the Suwannee River Water Management District and Jackson Blue Spring area with cost-share dollars.
“We’re so convinced that farmers will see such drastic results that we wanted to offer farmers an incredible incentive to try our soil moisture probes,” says Doug Crawford, co-founder of BMP Logic. “Once the probes are installed and calibrated, farmers get moisture and salinity data from their fields sent to their phones in easy-to-read charts. If they are watering too much, or too little, they will know in near real time.”
In Jackson Blue Spring, farmers can receive a 75 percent discount. In the Suwannee River Water Management District, it’s even more than that.

Craig Bishop of Bishop Farms in Marianna, FL, has been using soil moisture probes through BMP Logic for about four years. He grows corn, peanuts, and cotton.
For Bishop, the probes are all about saving time on the 3,000 acres he has irrigated.
“I was born wanting to farm. The probes have saved so much in man-hours … and fuel,” he says. “It’s just so much more efficient and cheaper. We used to spend 10 to 12 hours minimum each week to have one person checking the moisture in the fields.”
Now he just physically checks on the probes when he is riding around the farm on the weekend.
“I love them,” he says. “I absolutely love them.”
